Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) held a lecture for Kuwait University students attending the “Professional Ethics” subject. The lecture aimed at raising awareness on integrity and transparency. In the lecture, speakers from Nazaha presented the Kuwait Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy, Right to Access Information Law, and Nazaha’s Code of Conduct.
The Director of Planning and Follow-up, Mr. Khaled Yosuef Al-Muzaini, gave a presentation on the Kuwait Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy from a practical perspective. He spoke about Nazaha’s establishment-law and how this strategy was being implemented.
For his part, Mr. Mohammad Al-Khuraibet from Legal Affairs discussed the Right to Access Information Law. He shed light on the importance of this law as an international requirement for promoting integrity and transparency of public administration. He explained that the right to access information means that persons must be allowed to access their information held by entities if not in violation of any law or legislation. He also spoke about the role of Nazaha in adopting the law. He concluded by mentioning the need to balance between the right to access information and data protection.
The last presentation was on the Nazaha’s Code of Conduct. Dr. Hussein Al-Sabagha from the Awareness and Education Department reflected on the significance of professional conduct, citing the agency’s code of conduct as an example. He mentioned that the code promotes integrity and transparency by requiring the staff to commit to professionalism and avoid conflict of interests.
